September 25 – November 15, 2024
Featuring work by Jason Bernagozzi (Colorado State University), Jamie Hahn (Kent State University), Evelyne Leblanc-Roberge (University of Rochester), Kristin Reeves (Grand Valley State University), and Eric Souther (Western Michigan University), Still / Moving: Framing New Media explores the relationship between still and moving imagery in interdisciplinary lens-based artwork. The show includes video, photography, installation, book arts, and performance, and shows a progression between analog film, digital video, electronic lens-based media, and new media technologies. From still-capture (using a camera to record and freeze movement), to a moving sequence of images recorded with analog film and digital video methods, the artists make tangible the seemingly mysterious and sometimes misunderstood art that can be defined as New Media.

On November 13, 2024 a special screening of The Garfield Movie (2024) will take place in Pruis Hall! Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father - scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) - Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.
After the movie, Garfield creator and School of Art alum Jim Davis will engage in a Q&A with audience members. Don't miss this unique opportunity to ask questions of an icon in the comic and animation industries!

His acts of bravery earn the respect of King Louis XIII but ensnare d’Artagnan in the deadly schemes of Cardinal Richelieu and the beautiful yet depraved Milady Clarik. When the love of his life, Constance Bonacieux, is kidnapped on the eve of war, d’Artagnan must weigh his loyalties to king and country, comrades-in-arms, and the callings of his heart. Journey from Paris to London, from countryside taverns to glittering palaces, from a humble farm in Gascony to the siege of La Rochelle, in an epic tale of passion, intrigue, and adventure. “All for one, and one for all!”

2:00 Piano Student Showcase, featuring ten of our fine students from all degree programs performing works of Burleigh, Chaminade, Chopin, Granados, Liszt, Khachaturian, Powell-Perry, Prokofiev, Stark, and Villa-Lobos.
5:30 Piano-Palooza, featuring piano faculty members James Helton, Ray Kilburn, Franklin Larey, Lori Rhoden, and Michael Seregow, with a special appearance by College of Fine Arts Dean, Seth Beckman. Program to include music by Bach-Kurtag, Debussy, Granados, Morel, Piazzolla, and Scriabin.*Arrive earlier to receive individual lessons with faculty (by request), tour the campus on your own, or use practice rooms.

Celebrate the holidays with Ball State's Studio Band! Enjoy this free performance of holiday favorites from a range of genres and get into the spirit of the season!
The Ball State Studio Band is the University’s premier commercial music ensemble. With a focus on funk, R&B, soul, and contemporary popular music, the band is known for its dynamic performances delivered by powerful vocalists, a tight rhythm section, and dazzling horns.
Established in 2017 as the performance group of the Music Media Production program, they have entertained crowds all across the Midwest. From neo-soul to hip-hop and R&B, the band performs its dynamic sets regularly at local and regional venues and corporate events.
Apart from regular performances, this per-audition-only ensemble is a frequent guest in the recording studio. From supporting workshops with A-list guests or serving as the backing band for high-profile recordings, this group allows students to experience commercial music performance in the most authentic way.Dec 4, 2024

Ralston C. “Morgy” Craig, was an outstanding solo saxophonist who worked on a variety of projects with the Ball State band program in the 1950s and 1960s. A scholarship is awarded in his honor at this annual concert.

**Please note: As part of our commitment to sustainability, all College of Fine Arts tickets are paperless and are accessible via email confirmation. Your confirmation email contains your digital tickets which can be scanned at the door from your mobile device, or you can print your digital tickets at home to be scanned. There is no need to visit Will Call prior to the performance.
Parking
Parking is available in the McKinley Parking Garage (entrance on Ashland Avenue) located immediately south of Sursa Hall. Metered parking ($1/hr) is available on the first floor of the garage until 7 p.m. at which time parking is free.

This concert will be offered as a livestream - visit the Concert Livestream Page to watch live. Streaming begins approximately 15 minutes prior to scheduled concert start time.
