Today, we will be watching COINTELPRO 101, a film about the states formal program and effort to destroy the movements for self-determination and liberation, preventing these communities to find justice through organized struggle. Hope to see you all there!

This week for our Third World Study Group we will be looking at selected writings from Africans in America who connected their struggle for liberation with the struggle for liberation and decolonization in Palestine. Organizers and theoreticians such as Malcolm X, Kwame Ture, and Shaka Shakur have demonstrated through practice what internationalism really means and looks like. 

Join us for our monthly letter writing session for Political Prisoners this upcoming Wednesday at 7pm. Letter writing is a simple yet necessary action we can all do to deepen our relationship with those behind bars and maintain accountability and prisoner support to our Political Prisoners.

This month we will focus on writing letters of encouragement and support to Naeem Trotter of the Pendleton 2. Earlier this month, Naeem was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After being locked up in a concentration camp for over 4 decades for saving a life and standing up to state sanctioned racial violence, Naeem’s body has taken the brunt of this trauma after years of medical neglect, isolation, and deplorable conditions. Today, Naeem is a sick elder. Now more than ever, it's time for him to come home.

Bring clothes you don’t wear/want and swap for clothes you do want! If you wouldn’t give your clothes to a friend, don’t give it to us! This means bringing new or gently used clothing which is free of stains, smells, and holes. All clothes left behind will be donated to the Ross Community Center and the YWCA. Everyone deserves access to stylish and clean clothing.

As the drive for profit continues to swallow up industries which produce our clothing and linens, unsustainably extracting raw materials to produce these goods and relying on low-cost or slave labor to maximize profits and deceptively lower prices for consumers like u and I, it is up to us, the people, to create and develop alternative systems which reorganize our resources to better meet our own needs. This clothing swap represents a microcosm of this necessary system. 

This week marks 3 years since the launch of operation Al-Aqsa flood and the subsequent escalation of the genocide of Palestinians across Gaza and the West Bank. Since then the global solidarity movement has grown and continues to struggle for liberation. We, the students, continue to advance the cause on our campuses, remaining guided and grounded in the purpose of our efforts: for the martyrs, and for
liberation. We remain uncompromising in our demands for the complete liberation of all Palestinian land and for the liberation of oppressed people everywhere, those subjected to the ravages of Western imperial violence, exploitation, and domination. That is why this week our programming will be centered on Gaza and resistance. We will ground ourselves in the ongoing struggle to help us remain committed to the fight for liberation.

This upcoming Wednesday, we will continue our study session of “Black Scare/Red Scare: Theorizing Capitalist Racism in the United States” by Dr. Charisse Burden-Stelly for Black Study Group. This book discusses the long history of anti-Black and anti-communist/radical repression that has been integral in domestic and foreign US policies and governance, and how racism and racial hierarchy are at the heart of capitalist exploitation and US society.

We will be reading an abridged version of chapter 3, “Genres of Black Radicalism”, and discussing how Radical Blackness embodied the pre-eminent threat of the Black Scare and the Red Scare, exemplified the ultimate threat to the US Capitalist Racist Society, and could be understood through 3 genres: 1) The West Indian, 2) the Outside Agitator, and 3)  Red Black / Black Red

This event will be available in-person and on zoom! 

Back by popular demand, Sapphic Saturday will be coming back on October 17th at the Muncie Liberation Studio in collaboration with the Lavender Closet!

This event will be an easy-going craft and community night focused towards sapphic people, however, everyone is welcome! Crafts include nail polish, bracelet making, group games, and clothing patch making, with supplies provided by @zoe.rosie.prints!

You’re invited! To our Printing Palooza!!

Lavender closet along with myself are hosting a clothing customizing printing palooza! I will be providing printmaking tools and supplies to rent out while Lavender closet is providing the space and clothing to customize! 

Feel free to bring your own clothes Linocut blocks, inks, supplies and use the space to print ! 

All profits will benefit both lavender closet and muncie liberation studio.

Starting this October, Collage with Comrades events will feature different thematic presentations and discussions that focus on anti-fascist resistance and cultural art/community!

For this Collage with Comrades on October 26th, we will be giving a short presentation on STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries) and early forms of organized LGBTQ+ resistance. Open questions and discussion will be after the presentation. This is to hopefully center a nice conversation and topic for collage!! The collage activity will be available before, during, and after the presentation.

Supplies will be provided. Bringing your own supplies is encouraged! but not necessary.

**Collage events after the upcoming October 26th date will be hosted on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of every month.**

Come out Saturday, September 26 at 7pm for our monthly Open Mic! This is a space to build people's power, deepen our sense of community, and reclaim art for working people. Bring your art, poetry, comedy, music, and other creative mediums that speak to collective liberation!
