    About Guest Artist Trevor Mowry

Trevor is an oboist based in the Washington, DC area who has been lauded for his “lovely and plaintive” playing (Charleston Gazette). He has played co-principal oboe in “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band since his appointment at age 22 in 2012. In that capacity he has performed in hundreds of band, orchestra, and chamber music concerts in 44 US states, and regularly performs for state functions at the White House. He has appeared as a guest musician with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the New World Symphony. He can frequently be heard in performance throughout the DC area as principal oboe of the Alexandria Symphony, and as guest principal oboe with the Fairfax Symphony, Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Lyric Opera, the National Philharmonic, Post Classical Ensemble, Cathedral Choral Society, and other esteemed local arts organizations. A passionate educator, Trevor has been featured in master classes at over thirty universities and conservatories across the United States. He is the winds coach for the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra program, where he helps hone the ensemble-playing skills of outstanding young woodwind players as they prepare to enter top collegiate music programs. He received a Performer’s Certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree in Oboe Performance from the Eastman School of Music, and pursued graduate studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music until his appointment to “The President’s Own.” (This bio is presented in an unofficial capacity and neither “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, the U.S. Marine Corps nor any other component of the Department of Defense or the U.S. Government has endorsed it.)
