Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company will open a new exhibition of paintings by Carol Strock Wasson and photographs by her son Daniel Wasson. The show’s title, Landscape refers to the depiction of the land in their art. It also refers to their family business, Wasson Nursery, where they have spent a lifetime creating landscapes for their customers. Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.At 6:15 The Artists will give an informal talk about their work
Carol Strock Wasson is a well-known and much-loved artist and teacher with an active studio in Union City, Indiana. She is a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, a Master Pastelist of the Chicago Pastel Painters, a Signature Member of American Women Artists, and enjoys Eminent Status with the International Association of Pastel Societies. She exhibits widely in Indiana with the Indiana Plein-Air Painters Association and the Hoosier Salon.
Daniel Wasson is Owner/President of Landscape Services Div. Wasson Nursery Inc.
This exhibition will be the first time their artistic work has been shown together. “For decades,” say Carol and Daniel, “our family has worked with the landscape—designing it, caring for it, and living among it. Through painting and photography, we continue that relationship, exploring the changing light, quiet beauty, and enduring character of the places we call home. We hope these images invite you to slow down, look closely, and experience the landscape as we do.”
The exhibit will be on view with works for sale in the gallery through October 31, 2026.

Ever wondered what's inside MadJax? Make plans to visit on Thursday, September 3, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at MadJax Maker Force, 515 E. Main St., for Explore MadJax, a building-wide open house and a chance to see more of what happens inside one of downtown Muncie's most unique spaces. Visitors are invited to wander the building, peek inside open studios and workspaces, and meet the artists, makers, entrepreneurs, businesses, nonprofits, and professionals who call MadJax home. Guided tours will also be available throughout the evening for those who want to learn more about the building and the many ways people use MadJax. You'll also have the chance to meet community organizations that regularly use MadJax for meetings, programs, classes, and events, including Muncie Arts & Culture Council, Muncie Queer Alliance, BSU Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute, Rooted & Rising, Muncie Astronomy Club, Muncie Public Library, and Muncie Camera Club. The evening will also feature a new exhibition in TOOLSONG Gallery featuring artist Ellen Leigh and live music from Foxxy in the MadJax Courtyard. As the Best of Show Winner of the Muncie Artists Guild’s Annual Show, JERRY WIRE is the featured Artist of the Month for September 2026. Jerry taught art at Muncie Community Schools for over 30 years and volunteered at Minnetrista on various projects after he retired. His grandfather’s oil paintings influenced his youth. He designed the Madison Heights school shield that was installed on the gymnasium wall and did set designs for plays while in school. His main interest is in art history and the study of men and women over the ages of Western Civilization, their interpretation of life, and how they handled their subjects. He does both two- and three-dimensional projects. His projects include charcoal and pastels, oils, acrylic portraits, ceramics, throwing, terra-cotta, papier-mâché, kites, mosaics, weaving, hyper-tufa garden sculptures, and printmaking.Jerry's artwork will be on display at Old National Bank, The Patterson Bldg., and at Rosebud Cafe.

Leslie Price is an independent Historic Preservation Specialist in Muncie, Indiana. A graduate of Ball State University, her dedication to the building arts, preserving cultural heritage and the environment is evident in her pursuit of the perfect perspective. Leslie is a photographer, writer, activist, painter and craftsman. She has a unique vision of the evolution of culture, which is reflected in the texture, details and composition of her images. She has been photographing people, events and the national parks for over fifteen years. She has presented solo exhibitions in Davenport, Iowa; Rock Island, Illinois and Muncie, Indiana. She has participated in First Thursday on five occasions previously and was the featured artist in the Judith Barnes Gallery at Cornerstone Center for the Arts last month. The Songwriter Sessions is a monthly event where local and regional songwriters share the art of original music and the stories behind the songs. The event is held in conjunction with Muncie's First Thursday. It runs from 8-10pm at RoHo's 308 S Walnut St, Muncie, IN 47305 after the main First Thursday events, as an after party where you can unwind and listen to awesome live music performed by the creators.
