First Thursday Art Show & Tattoos for a Cause
We're coming together to support our friends Jolie Ruin and Jamie (@jmetattooing) during a difficult time. Jolie has recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer and will be undergoing 7-8 weeks of treatment. As she focuses on recovery, Jamie will be taking time away from work to help care for her.First Thursday: Jolie Ruin Art Show
We're proud to feature Jolie's artwork at the shop throughout the month, with a special opening during First Thursday. This is a great opportunity to support her directly by purchasing her artwork and celebrating her creativity during a challenging time. If you've admired her work before, now is the perfect time to take a piece home and help support her journey.Saturday, November 7: Tattoos for a Cause (1:00 PM - 8:00 PM)
We'll also be hosting a tattoo fundraiser with multiple flash sheets to choose from. 100% of proceeds from the event will go directly to Jolie and Jamie to help offset expenses while Jolie undergoes treatment and Jamie takes time away from work to care for her.If you'd like to support, you can:

Casey Myers Art is a mixed media artist based in Muncie, IN. Combining acrylic, ink, watercolor, and oil paints within her artwork. She draws inspiration from nature, psychedelics, human anatomy, and emotions. Being passionate about the environment she tries to repurpose secondhand materials to paint on as well as to frame with. She hopes to show serenity and balance throughout her pieces. First Thursday opening reception for Gordy Fine Art Presents Moku-Moths by Ball State Distinguished Professor Patricia Nelson, 5-8pm.Gordy Fine Art is pleased to announce the opening of Moku-Moths, a new exhibition by artist and Ball State University Distinguished Professor of Art Patricia Nelson, opening on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.
In her new body of work, Nelson combines a lifelong fascination with insect anatomy with her mastery of metalwork and enameling. For this show she employs mokume gane, a traditional 17th-century Japanese technique in which non-ferrous metals like copper and silver are fused into solid blocks called billets, and then hammered and carved into sheet, revealing organic, woodgrain-like patterns. Then she invented a method to apply multi-fired vitreous enamel onto these patterned surfaces.
At 6:15 The Artist will give an informal talk about her work where she will describe the method she pioneered to apply vitreous enamel onto the patterned Mokume surfaces.
"I have always been intrigued with the anatomy of invertebrates, especially those possessing exoskeletons," says Nelson. “Those animals easily inspire intricate metal fabrications. In addition, the surface of patterned mokume has an unpredictable, organic feel that simulates wood bark, and by extension insect camouflage, in a way that is almost uncanny. I hope I have achieved the feel of a creature that endures through a combination of camouflage for survival plus a brilliant show of color and pattern when attracting a mate.”
The exhibit will be on view with works for sale in the gallery through December, 2026.

Ball State University’s IDIA Lab, part of the Estopinal College of Architecture and Planning, will showcase recent animation, virtual reality, and interactive art projects during Muncie’s First Thursday on November 5th, from 5–8 p.m., at the BSU ECAP Downtown Studios at 306 South Walnut Street.

There's plenty to explore at MadJax Maker Force during November's First Thursday on November 5, from 5–8 PM! We're putting the creativity and talent of Ball State University's College of Architecture and Planning students in the spotlight with a showcase of student projects, architectural models, designs, and creative work throughout our first floor. Visitors can meet the students, learn about their projects, and discover what they've been imagining for the future. In TOOLSONG Gallery, we're celebrating the opening of Pressing Matters, a colorful community art exhibition led by Molly Schaller featuring Gelli prints created by Muncie residents of all ages. Visitors can even try Gelli printing themselves and create a one-of-a-kind piece to take home or add to the exhibition. The project was supported by the Vore Arts Fund. Rainbolt Sips will also be serving drinks available for purchase at the Sip Station, and Guardian Brewing Co. will be offering half-off appetizers. Record Parlor of Muncie and Purple Snail Studios will be doing a collaborative recording project on First Thursdays.The project formerly known as Community Collage has a new name, and a new space.
Muncie IN Stereo is a recording project where members of the community can record whatever they want to, regardless of talent, and we will take those recordings and mix them into songs. Previously this took place at the Record Parlor, but with Purple Snail Studios right next door, there is now a perfect space to carry out our vision. We will have multiple instruments available, but people are also welcome to bring their own to record with.
So, stop by the Rosecourt building and show us what Muncie, IN Stereo can sound like!
The Songwriter Sessions at Rohos

The Songwriter Sessions is a monthly event where local and regional songwriters share the art of original music and the stories behind the songs. The event is held in conjunction with Muncie's First Thursday. It runs from 8-10pm at RoHo's - 308 S Walnut St, Muncie, IN 47305. The showcase takes place after the main First Thursday events, as an after party where you can unwind and listen to awesome live music performed by the creators.
