The program is a collaborative project of the Muncie Children’s Museum, Muncie Symphony Orchestra, and Masterworks Chorale.Take on the challenge of learning a song and be a part of the performance coming together. Tour our four music stations at MCM!From 12pm to 2pm, take your turn trying out different instruments in MSO’s instrument petting zoo; if you can play an instrument you are invited to show off your talent at the song of choice station; visit the MSO ensemble to learn the language of music notes; check out the pitch pit to match your voice with Masterworks Chorale; and step on stage to see how costumes tell a story. At the end of the musical tour at 2pm, the MSO ensemble and Masterworks Chorale group will put on a patriotic performance with help from the audience.

The series is part of the MSO Goes to Town initiative, that features live ensemble music in unconventional locations. In the past two years the seires featured concerts at Academy of Model Aeronautics, Toyota Scion of Muncie, Muncie Power Products warehouse, Ivy Tech Community College, Macy’s at Muncie Mall, Mutual Bank, and Ball Memorial Hospital. The Muncie Symphony Orchestra holds an annual competition for young musicians in the region. Two divisions: the Junior (grades 6-8) and the Senior (grades 9-11) provide the opportunity for two winners to receive a cash prize and an opportunity to perform with the Muncie Symphony in a future concert.

Application deadline for young artists is December 1, 2014.

The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, as part of our Classical Series. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great concert for the entire family!

For school groups only. The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, in a special concert for school groups. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great introduction to the classics, especially for 4th and 5th graders.

Advance reservations from schools is required.

All gamers and symphonic music lovers will enjoy Video Games Live, a special event featuring the best game music performed by the MSO, combined with synchronized lighting, video, live action, and audience interactivity.

There are Pre Show Events & a Post Show Meet-n-Greet open to all ticket holders. Pre-Show activities include a Guitar Hero competition, costume contest and prize give-a-ways. The Post-Show activities include meet and greet opportunities with industry designers/creators, composers/sound designers, voice actors, performers and more special guests.

MSO Young Artists Competition 2014 winner, Nathan Meltzer, violin

Join the Muncie Symphony Orchestra for the classical series finale program. Summing up the theme, On the Brink of Greatness, the MSO will present two "up and coming" violinists: Nathan Meltzer, 2014 MSO Young Artist Competition winner, and the future winner of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra" will conclude the program. Pre-concert talk at 6:30pm in the Williams Lounge.
