The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, in a special concert for school groups. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great introduction to the classics, especially for 4th and 5th graders.
Advance reservations from schools is required.

Cost: General Admission is $35; $80 for the Series (3 concerts). Hilary Hahn is a two-time Grammy Award winning violinist and an internationally applauded performer. Ms. Hahn is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, receiving her bachelor’s degree at the age of 19. To date, she has released 14 albums and has been a regular feature on the Billboard classical chart’s top ten. Touring in the past year alone has brought Ms. Hahn to nearly 50 cities in 14 countries and has featured performances with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Berlin Philharmonic, the New World Symphony Orchestra, and many more.

Gershwin’s Magic Key is the first-ever educationally entertaining theatrical symphony concert exposing children and their parents to the extraordinary life and musical masterpieces of one of the greatest American composers of all time! The story tells of a chance meeting on the streets of New York City between a poor newspaper boy and the great American composer, George Gershwin. The orchestra magically weaves Gershwin’s greatest hits into the drama as the master composer shares historical anecdotes about his life and musical passion. Audiences will be captivated by over twenty of Gershwin’s most popular compositions from classical compositions including Porgy & Bess, American in Paris, Cuban Overture, Concerto in F and Rhapsody in Blue to popular hits from the American Songbook including I Got Rhythm, Swanee, Stairway to Paradise, Someone to Watch Over Me, and Fascinating Rhythm.
