Expose your child to life skills such as: listening to and following instructions, taking turns, sharing items, and learning how to work in a group. This workshop will be princess and prince theme for ages 3 to 6. Children will be able to try out different instruments, sing, dance, participate in stories, and meet kids their age! The cost of this workshop is $10. Registration is available online or in our building. Contact the Education Department at 765.281.9503, ext 15 with any questions.

The Muncie Symphony Orchestra to perform at the Muncie Children's Museum, February 18 at 2pm!

The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will perform a kid-friendly concert featuring an outstanding display of percussion on Saturday, February 18. The Muncie Children's Museum is located at 515 South High Street in Muncie.

The free concert will include a variety of musical pieces from the "Roaring 20s," directed by Dr. Erwin Mueller, professor of percussion at Ball State University.

The concert will showcase the areas most accomplished marimba ensembles, with special performances by xylophone and vibraphone. The highlighted pieces from the concert will include, "Xylophone Rag," "Carnival of the Animals," "Mayan Dances," as well as an exceptional performance of one of the most well known percussion pieces, "Chopsticks."

The event is part of a "Jungle Fun Comes to MCM," sponsored by the Indiana Arts Commission. The program is a partnership with the Muncie Children's Museum, Muncie Civic Theater, and Muncie Symphony Orchestra. There is no cost to attend the event, or the museum on February 18.

Tickets are free for school groups with advance reservation, $5 general admission at the door.

The Young People’s Concert, held during the school day, engages young minds through an exciting full-orchestra performance. This morning performance by the Muncie Symphony correlates with Indiana Standards of Learning. Participating schools receive student listening guides, a teacher guide and a study CD in advance of the performance.

Both elementary and secondary students are invited to Young People’s Concerts; age-appropriate performance guides help students and teachers get the most out of the concert experience. The concert at 9:30am on January 30, 2013 will be geared toward  4th,  5th and 6th graders , though students of any age are welcome at the concert as well as their families. Concerts serve city, county public, private and home-schooled students.
