The Ball State University School of Art's Clay Guild is hosting a sale! Stop by the Atrium to shop a variety of objects from functional ware like mugs and bowls to sculptural work!

Duende Libre is an award-winning jazz trio whose original music combines jazz virtuosity with roots rhythms from Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa into a “strikingly authentic blend.” Each having apprenticed with direct descendants and master musicians of these traditions, they consider themselves disciples of their teachers. The result: A euphoric new jazz that honors its historical roots, pushing open the boundaries of genre to invoke a powerful sonic freedom.

Comprising core members Alex Chadsey (bandleader and keys), Jeff Busch (percussion), and Farko Dosumov (bass), Duende Libre is collectively influenced by the trio’s direct connections with master musicians including Clinton Fearon, Dudley Nesbitt, Dave Hassel, Jesse Bannister, Chucho Valdés, Carlos Santana, Martha Gonzalez, Quetzal Flores, and Joe Santiago.

The band effectively—and uniquely—calls attention to the space between contemporary jazz traditions and broader musical influences from around the globe. Informed by a cumulative century of devoted study, they answer to this with emphatic (and euphoric) sonic interpretations that effectively enrich the collective language of jazz itself.

While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Our choirs will present a program of works by Mozart, Jeksabone, Belafonte, and more including a Canadian sea shanty, a traditional Namibian play song, and light-hearted folk songs. All choirs will come together to close the concert singing a rendition of the African American spiritual "Ezekiel Saw the Wheel" by Moses Hogan.

Join us for the Graphic Design Senior Showcase at The Clubhouse on Walnut Street, featuring the culminating work of Ball State’s senior graphic designers! Explore their senior design campaigns alongside a range of projects developed throughout their time in the program. Enjoy food and drinks, music, and a relaxing evening as you meet the designers and celebrate their work. Free and open to the public.

Late Nite Catechism is an uproariously funny play that takes the audience back to their youth. The irrepressible Sister teaches class to a roomful of "students." Throughout the course of the class the benevolent instructor rewards the "students" for correct answers with glow-in-the-dark rosaries and other nifty prizes. Naughty students may well find themselves on stage sitting in a corner reflecting their actions. However, even the most reluctant "students" will be clamoring to get into this Sister's class.
