During this specific walk, participants will explore the Nature Area, learning about and hopefully catching sight of the diverse bird species that inhabit and hunt in the prairies and woodlands of East Central Indiana!

Look through our field guides to learn more about the birds you can see in your backyard and then use our binoculars to spot feathered friends. Following your avian exploration, join us on a family-friendly bird walk through Oakhurst Gardens at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m., where you can discover even more feathered delights!

Join us in celebrating our newest exhibition, Bird Photographer of the Year, with a guided birdwatching walk. During this stroll along Minnetrista Boulevard, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about and spot the various bird species inhabiting our waterways. Additionally, we'll explore the significance of river corridors in wildlife conservation efforts.

Participants will learn how to identify and manage invasive bush honeysuckle. Tools will be provided. Dress for the weather. Long pants and closed-toed shoes recommended. Registration not required. Parking spaces along south side of Gavin St. Additional parking is approx. 0.25 miles north of intersection, on the west side of Bunch Blvd.

Pollinator Party at the BSU Nature Lab

What's the buzz? Could it be bees, bats, butterflies, or even birds? Find out at the Pollinator Party at the BSU Nature Lab, Rinard Orchid Greenhouse, and Christy Woods from 10-3pm! Families and visitors can learn all about pollination from experts in our community and see examples firsthand.
Plus, this year will be our first Sunflower Showdown during the Pollinator Party! Visitors are encouraged to bring in the biggest sunflower head from their garden. The largest (by diameter) sunflower heads brought in for measuring will receive a prize! A total of four prizes will be available, two for adults and two for children. Contact our Educator to learn more.
