The Beginnings 2026 exhibition showcases student artwork completed in the past academic year in School of Art First-Year Foundations courses. We are pleased to offer awards in four categories (2D, 3D, 4D, and Drawing) and a Best in Show Award that is generously sponsored by Art Mart in the Village. Join us for the reception and awards ceremony during BSU Family Weekend, Friday, September 11 from 4 to 6pm.
Foundations provides all first-year students in the studio art, animation, graphic design, and art education programs with the fundamental concepts of art and design through an intensive year-long studio-based experience in AFA 101 Drawing Studio, ADS 101 2D Foundations, ADS 102 3D Foundations, ADS 103 4D Foundations. This interdisciplinary program emphasizes critical thinking and making skills, conceptual development, process, collaboration, and experimentation. Students are introduced to the School of Art’s learning approaches and gain a deeper understanding of historical and contemporary practices in art and design.
Ball State Board of Trustees Protest

Join us this Friday to protest the Board of Trustees. They are the ruling body of our campus and use that power to serve their own material interests at the expense of students, faculty, and the community. Show them they can’t operate in silence, that we see who they are and what they do!

Ball State University Libraries invites you to join in on a celebration of 100 years of homecoming. University Libraries Archives and Special Collections will exhibit memorabilia commemorating the rich history of homecoming at Ball State, including years of photos of the evolution of Charlie Cardinal. Event activities include games, live music, refreshments, and a presentation featuring Ball State President, Geoff Mearns talking about his decade of homecoming experiences at Ball State. The event will also be highlighted by Sherman Burdette of Fox 59 News.

This character-led adventure takes you through the dangers and wonders of our Solar System and beyond—fasten your seatbelt and see if you have the courage to make it home in one piece!
Recommended for ages 8+.
Note: Dome motion is common in planetarium shows, and this program has especially strong motion—be advised.

- Ball State Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble 7:30pm @ Sursa Performance Hall, Ball State University Corner of Riverside and McKinley
Cost: $10 advance, $12 at door The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of LaToya Webb. Wind Symphony are under the direction of Jeremy Harmon, director of athletic bands.
The Wind Ensemble will feature music by Zhou Tian, Harrison J. Collins, Haley Woodrow, Richard Wagner, and Vincent Persichetti. The Ensemble will also premiere Harrison J. Collin's two movement work titled, Soulsongs which is designed to musically encapsulate two life-ideas that have helped him and which he hopes to share with others: 1.) You gotta love, and 2.) You gotta fight for love. The concert will conclude with a large-scale work titled, Symphony for Band by Vincent Persichetti.
The Ensemble will be guest conducted by the following two Graduate Assistants: Ewerton Siqueira Ravelli, Master of Music in Wind Conducting | Bryen Warfield, Doctor of Arts in Wind Conducting
