Still/Moving
September 25 – November 15, 2024
Featuring work by Jason Bernagozzi (Colorado State University), Jamie Hahn (Kent State University), Evelyne Leblanc-Roberge (University of Rochester), Kristin Reeves (Grand Valley State University), and Eric Souther (Western Michigan University), Still / Moving: Framing New Media explores the relationship between still and moving imagery in interdisciplinary lens-based artwork. The show includes video, photography, installation, book arts, and performance, and shows a progression between analog film, digital video, electronic lens-based media, and new media technologies. From still-capture (using a camera to record and freeze movement), to a moving sequence of images recorded with analog film and digital video methods, the artists make tangible the seemingly mysterious and sometimes misunderstood art that can be defined as New Media.

Sue Gordy is the Muncie Artists Guild “Artist of the Month.” Her work will be shown at various downtown locations.Sue’s bio: “An interest in drawing buildings and having a father who built houses motivated me to enroll in architecture classes at Ball State University (one of three women in my class in the early 1970s). Ultimately, I worked my way through Ball State's business college and later was employed by Ball Corp. and Boyce Design Center, where I met Jim Faulkner and was inspired by his watercolor landscapes. In midlife, I switched from sales and marketing to library science. Subsequently, I worked in several Indiana public libraries. My passions include gardening with native plants, ecology, geography, and animals. I have rescued many animals and volunteered at several animal shelters. Our backyard is a wildlife habitat near the White River and the Cardinal Greenway, where I enjoy walking and bicycling. After retiring, I learned to paint with watercolors, and recently, to use colored pencils as a medium for the portraits I enjoy creating, working from my own photos. My grandsons and my pets are my favorite subjects.”

The Muncie Makers Market is a retail business incubator presented to the public through a community farmers market with fresh homemade food, locally grown produce, live plants, and handmade arts of all kinds! You’ll find the Muncie Makers Market monthly during the First & Third Thursday community events in Downtown Muncie, and at special annual events like the Magic City Brewfest, Brink of Summer ArtsWalk, Fire Up DWNTWN, ArtsWalk, and Light Up DWNTWN throughout our community all year! We develop local small business through education, connections, and events! Please JOIN us on Facebook and Instagram and please SHARE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1627047027524961/
