The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, as part of our Classical Series. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great concert for the entire family!

For school groups only. The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present a nationally acclaimed musical theater show, Tchaikovsky Discovers America, in a special concert for school groups. The program will feature an all-Tchaikovsky program, interwoven with an exciting true story of Tchaikovsky's trip to America, presented by the Classical Kids Music Education actors from Chicago. It's a great introduction to the classics, especially for 4th and 5th graders.

Advance reservations from schools is required.

VIDEO GAMES LIVE is a multimedia concert experience featuring the best music and exclusive synchronized video clips from the most popular games from the beginning of video gaming to the present. The show combines exclusive video footage and music arrangements with synchronized lighting, solo performers, stage show production, special FX, electronic percussionists and unique interactive segments. Whether it’s the power and passion of the more recent blockbusters or the excitement of remembering the sentimental classics you played growing up, it will truly be a special night to remember for the entire family. The show has a segment dedicated to the old retro arcade classics – but there is also modern music and older, more memorable pieces that no one has ever heard played live.

VIDEO GAMES LIVE bridges a gap for entertainment by exposing new generations of music lovers and fans to the symphonic orchestral experience while also providing a completely new and unique experience for families and non-gamers.

There are Pre Show Events & a Post Show Meet-n-Greet open to all ticket holders. Pre-Show activities include a Guitar Hero competition, costume contest and prize give-a-ways. The Post-Show activities include meet and greet opportunities with industry designers/creators, composers/sound designers, voice actors, performers and more special guests.

MSO Young Artists Competition 2014 winner, Nathan Meltzer, violin

Join the Muncie Symphony Orchestra for the classical series finale program. Summing up the theme, On the Brink of Greatness, the MSO will present two "up and coming" violinists: Nathan Meltzer, 2014 MSO Young Artist Competition winner, and the future winner of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra" will conclude the program. Pre-concert talk at 6:30pm in the Williams Lounge.

Wander through the MACC Arts Fair, Participate in the Flag Day picnic contest, try out musical instruments at the instrument petting zoo, and enjoy the Muncie Symphony Orchestra's "Americana" themed concert.

Alumna Aura Strohschein, piano, joins conductor Douglas Droste and the Ball State Symphony Orchestra for their first concert of the year.

The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain is a group of all-singing, all-strumming Ukulele players, using instruments bought with loose change, which believes that all genres of music are available for reinterpretation, as long as they are played on the Ukulele. A concert by the Ukulele Orchestra is a funny, virtuosic, twanging, awesome, foot-stomping obituary of rock-n-roll and melodious light entertainment featuring only the “bonsai guitar” and a menagerie of voices in a collision of post-punk performance and toe-tapping oldies.

Join the Muncie Symphony League for our first ever musical race - the Andante 5k Walk & Run! Presented as an outdoor ambulatory concert around the beautiful Ball State University campus, the course will feature 4 different live music setups along the way. Additionally, the MSO's Maestro Douglas Droste will lead off the race from the start line in his concert tails!

The 5k will be headlined by Dr Boldylocks & The Twitter Allstars at the Start/Finish line in front of Ball Gym, two more ensembles will play at the two turnaround loops of the course, and at the center of it all, the Shafer Tower Carillon will chime away, played by Dr. Ron Rarick.

The course has been designed to be exceptionally safe and very family-friendly. The first 2.5 miles take place over roads that will be fully closed and police-controlled. No traffice to worry about! The remainder of the course finishes up entirely on sidewalks, again - no traffic!

In addition to the unique experience of getting to listen to live music while you run/walk, each registrant will receive a T-shirt, all age group and overall winners will receive MSO ticket packages, and even more MSO concert tickets will be given away as door prizes after the race!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

After the race, take some time to relax, maybe by visiting the Art Museum, or a restaraunt in The Village, but be sure to come back for the Muncie Symphony Orchestra's FREE outdoor concert: "Festival on the Green"! An Arts Fair will open at 5:30, followed by the concert at 7pm

The Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana will be playing alongside the East Central Indiana Chamber Orchestra.  Admission is free, and no tickets are needed.  Dessert will be available at intermission.

Art through the ages can still be heard through the music of Beethoven, Greenman, and Mussorgsky. The lush sounds of Beethoven paint a sad story, while the world premiere of Steven Greenman’s Klezmer Violin Concerto blends traditional Klezmer music into a live orchestral performance. One doesn’t have to imagine Moussorgsky’s vision, as Viktor Hartman’s art along with contemporary images will be projected in Emens Auditorium during Pictures at an Exhibition.
