Cost: $10 advance, $12 at door The Wind Ensemble is under the direction of LaToya Webb. Wind Symphony are under the direction of Jeremy Harmon, director of athletic bands.
The Wind Ensemble will feature music by Bakhari S. Nokuri, Yukiko Nishimura, Eric Whitacre, Kevin Day, and Benjamin Horne, as well as Kevin Day's Harp Concertino.
Kevin Day's Harp Concertino was commissioned by a consortium led by the United States Coast Guard Band, and the Ball State Wind Ensemble is proud to be a consortium member. The work honors principal harpist MUC Megan Sesma's retirement. It is a celebratory, reflective work, and we are honored to feature our own harp professor, Joanne "Annie" King, as soloist.
The Wind Ensemble will close the program with Benjamin Horne's Spiritual Symphony — winner of the National Band Association's William D. Revelli Memorial Composition Contest. This work draws on four African American spirituals: "Follow the Drinking Gourd," "Motherless Child," "Deep River," and "What a Morning."

The Tom Shah concert is dedicated to the memory of BSU grad student Tom Shah. Tom was a gifted composer, trumpet player that was recruited by the CIA because of his ability to speak many different languages. Tom was one of the first people killed in the war on terror in the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombing in Nairobi, Kenya. This concert will feature original music by students and faculty.
