Join Cornerstone Center for Arts for First Thursday on April 2, 2015, for an opening reception and art show featuring the art of Leon and Aidan Crosby. The show entitled “Asian Infusion” is an exploration into art forms originating in traditional East Asian culture infused with a modern perspective.

Leon and Aidan, a father son duo, are excited to share their individual and collaborative efforts for the first time together. The collection includes mixed media paintings featuring modern influences such as graffiti and pop art utilizing unconventional styling.

The opening reception will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cornerstone Art Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone Center for the Arts. The show will be on display throughout the month of April.

We've expanded this popular workshop series to Savages Ale House. The teacher will guide you step by step to create your own piece of artwork. Each session will feature a different painting. Registration fee includes one workshop, supplies, and a pint of beer provided by Savages Ale House. Registration is limited.

USA Combat Jujitsu is a combat martial art that is designed to work best in self-defense situations. Cornerstone Center for the Arts instructor and 2nd degree black belt, Eric Sanner, will lead the demonstration. The demonstration will teach how to defend yourself and your family from attacks with guns, knives, sticks, strength, and strike. Blocks, holds, joint leverage and strikes will be taught to subdue instructors. Size or strength is no factor in the ability of the participant. This workshop will be a fun, informative way to learn about self defense. This workshop is designed for women only.

Spring flowers are about to bloom! In this workshop, we will needle felt our own bouquet of colorful flowers with dyed wool. Students will leave with at least one felted flower with stem.

Ages: Ages 2nd Grade - Adult

Cornerstone Center for the Arts has expanded its popular Pints & Paints workshops to Johnny Carino's! Surround yourself with good company and delicious authentic Italian food during this UNIQUE painting workshop. Enjoy a sample of one of Johnny Carino's signature pastas and a drink while you are guided step-by-step to paint your own masterpiece. $30 registration fee includes one workshop, supplies, a sample of pasta, and your choice of one beverage (wine, beer, or soda).

Cornerstone will partner with Cardinal Ballroom to host the first Cardinal Dance Showcase & Fundraiser. Cardinal Ballroom is an organization on Ball State's campus that provides dance instruction to students, staff and alumni at Ball State.

The Showcase & Fundraiser will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, in the Colonnade Room on the first floor at Cornerstone. Tickets are $3 in advance and $5 at the door.

Tickets for the event can be purchased here or from any Cardinal Ballroom student. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cornerstone’s arts programming. Information and representatives from various Ball State student organizations will be available. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Children ages 6 - 13 will enjoy yummy pastries while painting their very own masterpiece. This workshop is all about having fun!

Adults are welcome to join the workshop and paint alongside their child. An additional registration and registration fee is required. No registration is needed for those who only want to observe the painting fun.

An adult must stay with a child who is 8 years old or younger. No additional registration or fee required.

Cornerstone Center for the Arts is excited to announce the 29th Annual A Taste of Muncie, “A Taste for the Arts,” on Sunday April 19, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. with "Silver Ticket" guests gaining early access at 1 p.m. A Taste of Muncie is presented by PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union with support from 104.1 WLBC, 104.9 WERK FM, 93.5 MAX Radio, 96.7 Blake FM, Fox Sports Radio, 1240 AM/ 103.7 WHBU Talk Radio, The Fickle Peach, Savage’s Ale House, The Star Press, Johnny Carino’s, and Vera Mae’s Bistro.

This annual fundraiser features cuisine from several of the finest restaurants and vendors in the area. Attendees are invited to sample items and vote on “The Best of Taste” in various categories. All proceeds from the event benefit Cornerstone Center for the Arts’ arts programs and events. 

Participating area restaurants and vendors include: Blondie’s Cookies, Horizon Convention Center, Minnetrista, Mr. Mouse, Pepsi Cola, VKA Kitchen & Catering, White River Valley Pizza Hut, Tuppee Tong Thai, Auntie Anne’s, Heavenly Creations Catering, Ivy Tech Community College – East Central Region, Insomnia Cookies, Johnny Carino’s, The Wedge Artisan Grilled Cheese, Delaware Country Club, Burkie’s Drive In, and more to come!

This year’s "Silver Ticket" will feature craft beer tastings from The Fickle Peach and delicious food pairings from Vera Mae’s Bistro. Silver Ticket-holders will enjoy early access to vendors, private entertainment, and reserved seating. Silver Tickets cost $40 per person and are available in advance only until Wednesday, April 15. Silver Tickets are available for attendees 21 and up only.

Advanced tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for students with ID. Tickets at the door are $25 for adults and $20 for students. Children, ages five and under, are free. PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union members may purchase discount general admission tickets for just $15 at the Bethel Avenue location.

Tickets may be purchased online, by phone at 765-289-8687, and at Cornerstone Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Friday, April 17.

Guests will have the opportunity to bid on and win one of many fantastic prizes in a silent auction. Door prizes will also be given away throughout the day. Prizes include items from King’s Island, Muncie Civic Theatre, Sky Zone, Muncie Children’s Museum, Holiday World Splashin’ Safari, AMC Theatres, and more!

The fun continues after the event with a new, exclusive “After Taste” Party at The Fickle Peach. The party starts at 4:00 pm and is free.

Hoosier Cartography will feature maps of events and people in Indiana’s rich history, including custom maps created by the GIS Research and Map Collection covering the state’s history in politics, literature, sports, crime, and entertainment. This class is ideal for teachers of fourth-grade Indiana history as it will provide links to digital resources for teachers or other researchers. This one time workshop is free and open to the public.

Join Cornerstone Center for Arts for First Thursday on June 4, 2015, for the opening reception of “Identity: Searching Inside Ourselves” featuring an installation about history and community by Inspire Academy’s 6th grade class. This interactive showcase will include in-depth profiles of “identity” crafted through interviews, photographs, and stories gathered this semester highlighting local citizens that have lived through experiences of otherness and developed a deeper sense of belonging. This event will also give you the opportunity to speak with the artists and their community partners.

The opening reception will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 4th at the Cornerstone Art Gallery on the second floor of Cornerstone Center for the Arts. The show will be on display throughout the month of June. Join Atomic Comics Games & Music and Cornerstone Center for the Arts every second Monday of the month for a special Family Game Night! 

Family Game Night will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm on Cornerstone's third floor in the Red Room and is just $5 per person or $10 per family to participate. Each month will feature different games selected by Atomic Comics. Prizes will be given away each night. 

June's featured games include: King of Tokyo by Iello Games, Zombies by Twilight Games, DC Deckbuilding by Cryptozoic Games.
