As a cousin of Emmett Till, Joshua brings a deeply personal lens to this history and its continued relevance today. Through guided discussion and audience Q&A, he will share his family’s story, illuminate the lasting impact of Emmett and Mamie Till-Mobley, and help create meaningful space for dialogue, reflection, and connection across our community. Together, we are coming together to listen, reflect, and share. Free Community EventThe Human Library Project features human "books" that visitors can borrow for conversation. The Library provides a framework to inspire positive conversations that reduce stereotypes and prejudice through dialogue. Join us for the opportunity to talk to people who are different from you in a setting where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered.
The Oakhurst Experience will be closed on April 26, but the Oakhurst Home will be open for the Human Library Project event from 1-4 p.m. All are welcome to attend this free community event.

Drawing from her contribution to The Unforgettables by Charles C. Eldredge—a volume that brings together leading scholars to celebrate overlooked artists—Dr. Kuykendall will highlight Richardson’s place in art history and examine why rediscovering these voices matters today.

Guided by the Collections team, guests will step beyond the public galleries into secure storage areas where military uniforms, letters, field equipment, photographs, and personal effects are carefully preserved. Each artifact carries a story—offering a rare opportunity to reflect on the lives and sacrifices of those who served. This tour may include standing, stairs, and exposure to loud HVAC noise.
