Joshua Harris-Till will lead a community conversation connected to Emmett Till & Mamie Till-Mobley: Let the World See. As a cousin of Emmett Till, Joshua brings a deeply personal lens to this history and its continued relevance today. Through guided discussion and audience Q&A, he will share his family’s story, illuminate the lasting impact of Emmett and Mamie Till-Mobley, and help create meaningful space for dialogue, reflection, and connection across our community. Together, we are coming together to listen, reflect, and share. The Human Library Project features human "books" that visitors can borrow for conversation. The Library provides a framework to inspire positive conversations that reduce stereotypes and prejudice through dialogue. Join us for the opportunity to talk to people who are different from you in a setting where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered.

The Oakhurst Experience will be closed on April 26, but the Oakhurst Home will be open for the Human Library Project event from 1-4 p.m. All are welcome to attend this free community event.

Enjoy tea and light refreshments while joining art historian Dr. Lara Kuykendall, Director of the Ball State School of Art, for an engaging exploration of the work and legacy of lesser-known Indiana artist Constance Coleman Richardson. Drawing from her contribution to The Unforgettables by Charles C. Eldredge—a volume that brings together leading scholars to celebrate overlooked artists—Dr. Kuykendall will highlight Richardson’s place in art history and examine why rediscovering these voices matters today.

Honor the legacy of East Central Indiana service members this Memorial Day weekend with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Minnetrista Heritage Collection. Guided by the Collections team, guests will step beyond the public galleries into secure storage areas where military uniforms, letters, field equipment, photographs, and personal effects are carefully preserved. Each artifact carries a story—offering a rare opportunity to reflect on the lives and sacrifices of those who served. This tour may include standing, stairs, and exposure to loud HVAC noise.

Minnetrista Museum & Gardens

May 22; 9:30 a.m.–3 p.m. | All Campus Cost: $6 per child; includes free admission for two adults with each child ticket. Additional adult tickets are $7 each. Free for members. Homeschool families are invited to a fun-filled day of educational activities across Minnetrista’s campus. Activities are designed for students in prekindergarten through 6th grade, while all ages can enjoy exploring our exhibitions, historic homes, and scenic nature trails. Come ready to learn and play!
