 e several vendors of odd outsider and folk art\, lowbrow\, VHS\, books\, m

 rnative!\n\nArt at the Murray\n405 S. Walnut&nbsp\;(upstairs)\nThe third f
 loor at ART at the Murray is where the action is this month! Gallery Flane
 ur (Mark Sawrie) will feature a new selection of photographs\, with treats
  and libations served\, while Dunckel Haus Photography opens their studio 
 with special prints and copies of their debut first-edition book My Life W
 ithout Me In It. Kerry Shaw’s studio will be open\, and Cassie Dunmyer w
 ill have her studio open with new work on display along with a restock of 
 prints and cards.&nbsp\;\n\nCornerstone Center for the Arts\n520 E. Main\n
 Join us at Cornerstone on the 2nd floor from 5–8 pm for our monthly Firs
 t Thursday Arts Walk\, featuring artwork by local artist Terri Best\, live
  music from Nash Hammond\, and shop from local artist vendors. This month 
 also highlights a special collaboration with Burris Laboratory School\, wh
 ere middle school students transformed broken violins and cellos into crea
 tive works of art with Artist in Residence Debra Gindhart Dragoo\, explori
 ng sustainability and community impact.&nbsp\;\n\nECAP Gallery\n306 S. Wal
 nut\nStripped Axles Robotics will be showcasing their VEX Robotics teams w
 ork thanks to a shared space provided by the Ball State University College
  of Architecture and Planning. Students from four local teams (ages 7-18) 
 will be on hand to share their robots\, explain what they’ve been buildi
 ng\, and give the community a closer look at the creativity\, problem-solv
 ing\, and teamwork behind competitive robotics. Stop by\, say hello\, and

 \nBall State University’s IDIA Lab\, part of the Estopinal College of Ar
 chitecture and Planning\, will showcase an interactive gesture-based insta
 llation during Muncie’s First Thursday on May 7\, from 5–8 p.m.\, at t
 he ECAP Downtown Studios\,&nbsp\;306 South Walnut Street. The project uses
  a live game engine and employs a depth camera to sense a person’s movem
 ent\, allowing them to puppeteer a 3D character. Stop by and play!\n\nMade
  in Muncie\n313 S. Walnut\nMade in Muncie will be hosting a show by local 
 artist Jamie Twibell\n\nMadjax Muncie\n515 E. Main St.\nMuncie-based visua
 l artist and MadJax maker\, Kat Peace is April’s featured artist in the 
 TOOLSONG Gallery. The exhibition highlights Peace’s layered\, intuitive 
 painting style\, working across acrylic and oil to explore the connection 
 between the natural world and the inner one. TOOLSONG is located on the fi
 rst floor of MadJax\, near the center of the building\, across from the el
 evator. The gallery is free and open to the public during MadJax hours - M
 onday - Friday\, 7:30 am to 7:00 pm and Saturday\, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.\n\n
 Carved from a former transformer shaft in our historic industrial building
 \, the gallery has been reimagined into a light-filled space dedicated to 
 experimentation and contemporary making. Designed and constructed by stude
 nts from Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning\, 
 TOOLSONG reflects MadJax’s commitment to adaptive reuse\, hands-on learn
 ing\, and creating new platforms for artists to share work with the commun
 ity.\n\nMuncie Artists Guild\nVarious locations\nThe Muncie Artists Guild 
 Artist of the Month for May is Dennie Mann.\n\nWhile recovering from major
  surgery in 2022\, Dennie decided to return to painting after a 40-year hi
 atus. Recovery and retirement have brought time\, relaxation\, and the opp
 ortunity to focus on learning new skills while exploring previously unfami
 liar techniques and media. Dennie currently works primarily in oils on str
 etched canvas. His subjects are landscape and seascape scenes\, inspired b
 y breathtakingly beautiful scenes in nature. He is focusing on improving h
 is plein air painting skills.\n\nDennie's work will be on display at the f
 ollowing locations: Haul n' Oats\, Old National Bank\, Rosebud Coffee Hous
 e\, and The Patterson Block\n\nMuncieArts\n216 E. Main\nMuncieArts Artist 
 Spotlight: Eryn Hume\n\nMeet Eryn Hume\, view her artwork\, and learn abou
 t her creative process.&nbsp\;Eryn&nbsp\;Hume&nbsp\;is a Muncie-based abst
 ract expressionist artist working with latex and acrylic paint. Through im
 aginative layering and bold use of color\,&nbsp\;Eryn's work&nbsp\;invites
  curiosity\, blending passion for purpose and accidental discovery.&nbsp\;
 Eryn&nbsp\;studied Interior Design and Art at the Art Institute of Chicago
  and Ball State&nbsp\;University.&nbsp\;5-7pm\n\nMuncie Makers Market\nCor

 rown!\n\nRecord Parlor of Muncie\n125 E. Charles St.\, Suite 110\nThe Reco
 rd Parlor of Muncie is continuing an initiative to create a Community Coll
 age&nbsp\;Album! In addition to enjoying our gallery of local art\, visito
 rs will have the opportunity to record some music (regardless of talent). 
 We will have a small studio space set up with microphones\, guitars\, and 
 a couple small percussion instruments. Visitors can also feel free to brin
 g their own instrument&nbsp\;to play. Anyone who wants to is welcome to re
 cord something (even if it's just hand claps). All of the sounds will then
  be mixed and mastered into a song. At the end of the year\, we will have 
 a full album of songs created by the community to share. The recording sta
 tion will be set up from 6-8 so come contribute to the Community Collage!\
 n\nRoHo’s Muncie\n308 S. Walnut St.\nJoin us for a special evening celeb
 rating local talent as we showcase Kerry Shaw as RoHo’s Artist of the Mo
 nth! Kerry is a Muncie-based artist with deep roots in the local creative 
 community. With a background in fine art and graphic design from Ringling 
 College of Art and Design and Ball State University\, he’s spent decades
  honing his craft—both professionally and personally. After a successful
  career with Ball Corporation\, Anderson University\, and his own firm sha
 wDesign\, Kerry now focuses on painting stunning landscapes and portraits.
  His work is inspired by his travels and time spent painting with groups l
 ike the Indiana Plein Air Painters Association\, Hoosier Salon\, and Tucso
 n Barrio Painters. Stop in\, grab a drink\, and experience Kerry’s work 
 up close.\n\nThe Songwriter Sessions at Elm Street\n519 N. Elm\nThe Songwr
 iter Sessions is a monthly event where local and regional songwriters shar
 e the art of original music and the stories behind the songs.&nbsp\; The e
 vent is held in conjunction with Muncie's First Thursday. It runs from 8-1
 0pm at Elm Street Brewing Co\, 519 North Elm Street after the main First T
 hursday events\, as an after party where you can unwind and listen to awes
 ome live music performed by the creators. The May event features Pocket Di
 ver (Elia Buss) and Cherry Chub\, both from the Muncie area.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;
 \n\nUrban Stitch\n306 S. Walnut\nUrban Stitch: Designing Connections follo
 ws a group of Ball State architecture students as they work to strengthen 
 the connection between campus and downtown. Through collaboration with loc
 al businesses\, artists\, and community leaders—and by activating spaces
  through events—the studio explores new ways to bring students into the 
 life of downtown Muncie. The result is a set of ideas grounded in real exp
 erience\, now hopefully moving forward with support from the city and comm
 unity partners.
